Masset made some Thiebou Dieune today!
As soon as we got off school and got home, we would wash our hands and go straight to the kitchen where she would hand us te ingredients to make the sauces that will be served with the meal. In this case, it would be the Njambaan meaning "mix" but commonly known as chutney. This njambaan is basically a savory Tamarind puree that is mixed with other condiments that bring up the tanginess, pungency and sweetness needed for an oh so amazing mix of flavors. It's not common to see dates within that mix ... but what can we say when Masset's Moroccan origins take over and create an explosive duo with the Senegalese lifestyle, wink!
Ingredients: Tamarind, Garlic, Crushed Peppers, Lemon, Salt, Vinegar, Black Pepper, Ginger, Ghost Pepper and more
Refrigerate after opening it!
